Life-changing piece of art is a result of my ongoing collision with art. Coming from an intellectual background in Philosophy has turned my art practice into an in-depth enquiry into the reasons and meaning of contemporary art pieces and art in general. Inevitably, I started using text as a method of research as well as a subject matter in my practice. I am fascinated with the way text opens up conceptual spaces within artwork, coexisting with it on a number of different metaphysical layers.
My work can be characterised by a simplistic aesthetics, informed by references to Christian mysticism, existential philosophy and the writings of Witold Gombrowicz.
This current piece creates a realm where theory can be lyrical. Formally, it is a video installation arranged within a classic art gallery space. The setups of two opposing projections perform an existential dialogue with each other, creating a tension that is reflecting my ideological struggle within a context of a very personal experience of pregnancy. The viewer is invited to contemplate on the subtle relationships between the visual and the written, the abstract and the literal, the obvious and the latent.
